Liverpool opted to sell Luis Diaz to Bayern Munich for £65 million last summer.

Thiago Alcantara believes that Bayern Munich made a sage decision by signing 'fantastic' Luis Diaz from Liverpool.

The Reds allowed Diaz to join the German giants for a fee of £65 million last summer. The winger spent three-and-a-half years at Anfield and was a key player in Arne Slot's side that won the Premier League last season. In total, Diaz scored 13 goals en route to the top-flight crown and 17 in all competitions.

The Colombia international has been in imperious form since moving to Bayern. To date, he has fired 25 goals and created 20 in all competitions, with Vincent Kompany's side already claiming the Bundesliga title as well as reaching the Champions League semi-finals and DFB-Pokal final.

Speaking on the decision to swoop for Diaz, Thiago - who played alongside Diaz at Liverpool - told Sky Sports Germany: "The team is having a spectacular season. I think they made the right call by signing Luis Diaz . I know him from Liverpool and he's a fantastic player and a fantastic person. And of course, Vinnie (Kompany , ed.) is also doing a great job as coach. The group is fantastic – they have a very good mix of experienced and young players. Bayern are a joy to watch."
