Liverpool and Manchester United are reportedly ready to battle for the signing of Tottenham Hotspur defender Micky van de Ven during the upcoming summer transfer window.
The Netherlands international has been one of Spurs’ best players since his arrival from Wolfsburg in 2023, and he is one of several stars expected to leave the club if they suffer a shock relegation down to the Championship this year.
Tottenham are currently languishing in 18th place in the Premier League table and they are two points away from safety, with West Ham United and Nottingham Forest just outside of the relegation zone as things stand.
Roberto De Zerbi has been hired to mastermind a late escape, but Spurs are in real danger of dropping down to the second tier for the first time since 1977-78, which would trigger mass departures.
Van de Ven is seen as one of the club’s most attractive options to other Premier League teams, and both Liverpool and Man Utd have been tipped to pursue a deal for the Dutchman in recent weeks.
Their interest has now been confirmed by Italian transfer reporter Nicolo Schira" href="https://x.com/nicoschira/status/2047533675990917437?s=46" target="_blank">Nicolo Schira, who has revealed that Tottenham will demand a fee of €90 million to sanction a sale this summer.
That figure is significantly higher than his Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) of €62m, but Tottenham are determined to retain the 25-year-old if possible and will only sanction a sale if they receive a mega offer during the upcoming window.
Van de Ven has made 40 appearances across all competitions so far this season, scoring an impressive seven goals.

Analysis: Should Micky van de Ven join Liverpool or Man Utd?
Although Liverpool are interested in Van de Ven, a move to Man Utd appears more likely to guarantee him game time next season.
Virgil van Dijk will still be at Anfield in 2026-27 and with Ibrahima Konate and Jeremy Jacquet set to compete for the right-sided berth, Van de Ven would likely play second fiddle to his compatriot during his debut campaign.
At Man Utd, however, he would usurp Lisandro Martinez as the first choice option on the left and partner one of Matthijs de Ligt, Leny Yoro or Harry Maguire. Furthermore, the Red Devils are on an upward trajectory under Michael Carrick and they could feasibly compete for major honours next year if they get their recruitment right this summer.
