AS Roma senior consultant Claudio Ranieri, the former Chelsea, Juventus, Inter, Sampdoria, Fulham, Nantes, Roma and Leicester City boss, quit the Giallorossi Friday after a public falling out with coach Gian Piero Gasperini.
Ranieri, 74, who has also coached Napoli, Fiorentina, Cagliari, Atletico Madrid and Valencia in a much-travelled career that saw the 1,00-to-one chance the Foxes win the Premier League in 2016 before being relegated to the third tier this year, was asked to resign by Roma's American owners the Friedkins as they chose to back former Atalanta manager Gasperini.
Roma, who are sixth in Serie A on the same points as fifth-placed Como, issued a statement saying: "AS Roma announces that its relationship with Claudio Ranieri has ended.
"The Club wishes to thank Claudio for his significant contribution to Roma.
"We have full confidence in the path that awaits us under the guidance of Gian Piero Gasperini, with the shared goal of growing, improving, and achieving results worthy of our history."
