Manchester United place Leeds United-linked attacker top of transfer shortlist as Liverpool…

Leeds United-linked Wolves attacker Mateus Mané reported as target for Manchester United

Leeds United have been linked with Wolverhampton Wanderers forward Mateus Mané - a player reportedly top of Manchester United’s transfer shortlist.

With Wolves on the road back to the Championship, a firesale at Molineux looks likely to take place when the summer transfer window opens.

Mané is among those who could be lost given the amount of promise he has already shown at Premier League level.

A Portugal youth international, the 18-year-old forward has made significant strides in the Midlands since joining from Rochdale in 2024.

However, if the Whites do pursue Mané, they could face a battle with their bitter rivals from across the Pennines.

According to SportsBoom, Manchester United have placed the former England Under-18s international top of their transfer shortlist.

It has been suggested the Red Devils would include him in their rotation of first-team players and view him as a potential bargain signing.

Arsenal and Liverpool have also been named as admirers of the frontman, who featured for Wolves in their 3-0 defeat to Leeds last weekend.

Mané could reportedly be available for a fee in the region of £30m, which would give some of the Premier League’s bigger financial powers an advantage in the race for his signature.

Development at Wolves

A fleet-footed and mobile attacking presence, Mané would arguably add a different dimension to the Leeds attack. He is a versatile operator too and has played as an attacking midfielder and winger as well as a forward.

Speaking to the Wolves website last month about his development under boss Rob Edwards, Mané said: “Rob’s been really good, putting faith in me at such a young age. Other managers wouldn't do that, but it shows he believes in young players and trusts us. So, I'm happy with him, and hopefully he's happy with me.

“I go through my clips with ‘H’ [Harry Watling], the assistant manager, going through what I did well, what I could do better, and where I struggled a bit. I've got to keep going, try to play well every game, show the manager, the fans, and everyone what I can do.”
