Arne Slot insists that Alisson is only focusing on his return to fitness and not ‘rumours’ linking him with an exit from Liverpool. The Brazilian goalkeeper has been linked with a potential move away from Anfield this summer, Italian giants Juventus among those reportedly interested in his services.
Alisson remains under contract until 2027. And Slot has confirmed that neither he nor his goalkeeper are letting themselves get concerned with speculation.
Instead, the pair are only focusing on Alisson returning to fitness, with the Brazilian currently out with a knee injury. Speaking in a press conference ahead of this weekend’s clash with Crystal Palace, the Dutchman said: "I am only focused on the short-term future and that is getting him back into goal as soon as possible.
"The answer is going to be that all these rumours that are out there about him and about probably me and about others, we don't react to rumours in this room, also not in my conversations with [sporting director] Richard [Hughes].
"We only react when facts need to be told and that is not the situation at the moment. The main focus for Ali is very clear, that is getting back in goal as soon as possible for the club he loves to play for and then he wants to be in goal for the country he wants to play for, that is Brazil. I think that is already the short and mid-term future."
Should Alisson leave, he would become the third long-serving player to choose to depart this season. Both Mo Salah and Andrew Robertson have already confirmed they will be drawing their glittering Liverpool careers to an end at the conclusion of the campaign.
Alisson joined the Reds from Italian side Roma in a £67m move in 2018 and he has gone on to make 332 appearances for the club. He could potentially add to that this weekend, having returned to contention, albeit Freddie Woodman could start following an injury to Giorgi Mamardashvili.

Speaking about his decision, Slot added: “Giorgi will definitely not be available for tomorrow and also not for the upcoming weeks. Ali is close to a return to play, so let’s see if tomorrow comes too early, yes or no. And that leaves, of course, Freddie Woodman as an option, who is definitely fit.”
Liverpool will be aiming to take a significant step towards the Champions League with victory this weekend. The Reds currently sit fifth and five points clear of Brighton in the final Champions League spot with five games of the season remaining.
