Liverpool Predicted XI vs. Crystal Palace: Alisson wait and big striker decision

Arne Slot‘s lineup for Liverpool’s visit of Crystal Palace will largely hinge on the fitness of Alisson, while he also faces a big decision over who starts up front.

On the back of their late, late victory in the Merseyside derby, Liverpool will look to further cement their status as favourites for a top-five finish when they host Palace.

Slot was dealt another injury blow in that 2-1 win over Everton, however, which will impact his selection for Saturday’s 3pm kickoff.

The big selection issue comes with Alisson still working his way back from a hamstring injury and not certain to be cleared for his return this weekend.

If the Brazilian is out, Woodman will start in a game that is also likely to see Jeremie Frimpong and Milos Kerkez return at full-back.

Alexis Mac Allister is another who is due to be restored to the side after starting the Merseyside derby on the bench.

That could see Curtis Jones, Andy Robertson and Cody Gakpo drop out along with the injured Mamardashvili and see Liverpool line up like this:

Woodman; Frimpong, Konate, Van Dijk, Kerkez; Gravenberch, Mac Allister; Salah, Szoboszlai, Wirtz; Isak

However, if Alisson is fit he will very likely start ahead of third-choice goalkeeper Woodman, who has not started in the Premier League since a 4-1 loss at Man United while still at Newcastle in September 2021.

There is also a case to argue that, having been one of the standouts against Everton, Jones should remain at right-back at the expense of Frimpong.

And with Isak yet to impress since his return from injury and clearly not 100 percent fit, Slot could opt to instead field Gakpo as his centre-forward with Florian Wirtz on the left wing.

With three changes from last weekend that would mean this XI:

Alisson; Jones, Konate, Van Dijk, Kerkez; Gravenberch, Mac Allister; Salah, Szoboszlai, Wirtz; Gakpo

With the bittersweet luxury of a game a week following Liverpool’s exit from the Champions League it is unlikely that Slot steers too far from his preferred lineup.

Beyond the uncertainty over Alisson that makes our first prediction the most realistic – with all to be revealed at 1.45pm on Saturday.
