Moyes has secret £40m weapon to use up top for Everton amid Barry doubts (opinion)

Many expect Thierno Barry to replace the concussed Beto when Everton face West Ham on Saturday, but that is not guaranteed.

David Moyes cast doubt over whether the Frenchman would walk into the side to replace the Guinea-Bissau international, telling reporters: “I’ve got other people that I think could do it, so I could consider them.”

It remains to be seen who leads the line for Everton at the London Stadium, but there is an argument for Tyler Dibling taking the place of Beto after a disgraceful display from Thierno Barry in the Merseyside derby.

What would your message to Moyes be over starting Thierno Barry vs West Ham? 🫣

Tyler Dibling often thrives centrally and could be a wildcard striker option for Everton

The £40m signing from Southampton is not exactly your traditional Moyes-style striker in the vein of Duncan Ferguson, Yakubu and Beto, but he does have an interesting record when fielded centrally as opposed to out wide.

Dibling has netted 13 goals and provided seven assists from 29 games in a central attacking midfield role, and when pushed a little further forward into the position of striker, can boast two goals and one assist in five appearances.

The 20-year-old just seems to be able to utilise his impressive ball striking ability and dribbling skills in these areas more effectively, whereas out wide, his lack of raw pace does not enable him to beat defenders to get into these more central areas.

It would be a risky experiment considering Moyes has not used Dibling in any of the last four Premier League outings, only giving the England U21 international one minute of action across the last nine league games.

Tyrique George may also be under consideration, having previously played as a striker for Chelsea and for the England U21 side.

Could we see George as a number nine? 😮

Ultimately, with Barry delivering a pathetic display against Liverpool in which it felt as if Everton had gone down to ten men after he came on, we feel a fresh face deserves a chance to replace Beto.
