Liverpool will likely have to turn to their third-choice goalkeeper for Crystal Palace‘s Premier League visit, with Giorgi Mamardashvili ruled out and Alisson facing a late fitness test.
Arne Slot was dealt another untimely blow in goal, with Mamardashvili requiring a deep wound stitched after a collision against Everton, likely to see him out for the next three weeks.
However, Slot updated on Friday that Alisson could be fit to return against the Eagles on Saturday.
“Ali is close to returning to play,” explained the boss. “Let’s see if tomorrow comes too early, yes or no.”
If Alisson is out, it leaves Freddie Woodman to assume goalkeeping duties in his full Premier League debut for Liverpool.

Liverpool have reportedly enquired about a summer transfer for Adam Wharton, who is expected to be fit for Palace after being forced off in their UEFA Conference League quarter-final last week.
The 22-year-old missed the Eagles’ goalless draw against West Ham, but is in line to return for an Anfield appearance, which could offer supporters a close-up of a potential new signing.
Oliver Glasner does have a Conference League semi-final first leg on Thursday to consider with his team selection, but Wharton’s availability will be a boost for the Eagles.
Palace are without Eddie Nketiah, Evann Guessand and Cheick Doucoure at Anfield.
