Arne Slot drops hugely concerning new comments about "world-class" Liverpool player's future

Liverpool head coach Arne Slot has refused to rule out the possibility of Alisson leaving the club this summer, saying moving on and staying are plausible.

The Brazilian has been an iconic figure at Anfield since arriving from Roma in the summer of 2018, proving to be one of the best players in the world in his position.

Alisson has been linked with a move to Juventus recently, however, with a verbal agreement with the Serie A giants even reportedly in place.

Speaking in his press conference before Liverpool’s Premier League clash with Crystal Palace on Saturday [via Dave OCKOP on X], Slot gave an update on the 33-year-old, saying a summer exit isn’t off the table:

“I think the club is run in a certain way and we make decisions that the club thinks are in the best interests of the club. And it could mean this is the reason why. It could mean another good argument why we acted how we acted. I think the history of all the transfers shows that nothing was done without a purpose or without thinking about it.

“Look, the people who make these decisions take everything into account. They try to make the best decisions with the interest of the club. It (experience) is definitely one argument to keep him but there are other arguments. That is a decision the club has to make if that is needed. In the end, he still has one year.”

Liverpool must keep Alisson for at least one more year

Alisson has just over 12 months remaining on his current Liverpool deal, and the Reds must do all they can to keep him until at least then.

He is an irreplaceable figure, even though injuries have started to become more of a problem, and losing him in the same summer as Mohamed Salah and Andy Robertson would feel like an almighty blow.

Alisson is still among the world’s best goalkeepers when fit, and while 2027 could be the natural time to part ways, a departure in the coming months has to be avoided.

Replacing him is going to be close to impossible – Jurgen Klopp once called him “world-class” – as is the case with Salah and Virgil van Dijk, with Giorgi Mamardashvili hopefully finding further gears.
