1 year since No. 20 and Liverpool must avoid historic low vs. Crystal Palace

Liverpool are seeking to avoid a fourth defeat against the same side in a single season when Crystal Palace make the trip to Anfield.

After wins in the Community Shield, Carabao Cup and Premier League, Crystal Palace could beat Liverpool for the fourth time this season, a feat never achieved by any team in history.

Liverpool have not managed to defeat Palace in the last four Anfield meetings in league and cup since a 3-0 victory in September 2021, when Sadio Mane, Mo Salah and Naby Keita all scored.

It is about time that changed in Liverpool’s 8th 3pm kickoff this season, of which they have won three of the previous seven.

On this weekend last year, Liverpool clinched their 20th league title by defeating Tottenham 5-1 at Anfield.

Now, the Reds are seeking to record back-to-back home league wins for the first time in 2026.

They have also scored 21 goals fewer that at the same stage of the previous league campaign, while conceding 12 goals more.

Mo Salah’s last chance to equal or surpass another record vs. Palace

In his final game against Palace, Salah needs one goal to equal Mane’s record for the most goals in this fixture. He has scored nine goals in 17 appearances against Palace.

As more league goals (33) have been scored from the 76th minute onwards in Liverpool games this season than matches of any other team, that could be when Salah strikes!

There have been nine 90th-minute or later goals in Liverpool’s league games this season (four winners, five losses), which is two more than in any other team’s games in a season in Premier League history.

Crystal Palace will eye history at Anfield

Palace could score two or more goals in a fourth successive meeting with Liverpool for the first time in their history.

They last scored more than once in a league visit in January 2019, losing 4-3 at Anfield. Since then, they have not scored more than one goal in any of their last six league clashes on Merseyside.

Moreover, Palace could become the first team since Arsenal in 2006/07 to defeat Liverpool at Anfield twice in the same season.

They are the only club outside of the top six to have a positive goal difference away from home (+2).

And one to note: fewer goals have been scored in the opening 15 minutes of Palace’s league games (four) than of any other top-flight club this season.
