Everything you need to know about Liverpool youngster Mor Talla Ndiaye
Background and arrival: Born in Senegal on January 6, 2008, El Hadji Mor Talla Ndiaye is the latest defensive gem to join the ranks at Liverpool. He officially moved to Merseyside in early January 2026, marking the club's first major signing of the winter transfer window.
His path to Anfield: The Reds plucked the teenager from Amitie FC, a Senegalese academy famously owned by former Premier League striker Demba Ba.
Transfer details: Liverpool secured the young defender's signature for a reported fee of around £1million. He has already committed his long-term future to the club, signing a professional contract that keeps him at Anfield until June 2030.
Physical profile: Ndiaye is a left-footed centre-back who uses his natural athleticism to dominate individual duels. Scouts have praised his ability to use his reach to snuff out danger and recover quickly against even the fastest attackers.
International pedigree: He truly put himself on the map during the 2025 U17 World Cup in Qatar, where he was a mainstay in the heart of the Senegal defence. His composure throughout the tournament helped lead his country into the knockout stages.
Technical style: Far from being just a physical presence, Ndiaye is remarkably calm on the ball and possesses a passing range that suits Liverpool's philosophy. He is known for his ability to break lines with vertical passes, often maintaining a passing accuracy of over 90 per cent in competitive matches.
Initial progress: Since arriving, he has been honing his craft with the U21 squad under the guidance of Rob Page. After a short period of rehabilitation to ensure he was match-fit, he made an immediate statement with a standout debut performance against Manchester City's under-21s.
First-team promotion: His development has led manager Arne Slot to call him up for regular training sessions with the senior first-team squad.
