Mohamed Salah may have played his final match in Liverpool red as a result of injury against Crystal Palace on Saturday afternoon.

The Egyptian forward signalled his discomfort around 15 minutes after the restart, potentially a problem with his hamstring. As a result, he was consoled by his team-mates as he made way for Jeremie Frimpong for the last 30 minutes of the match.

Given just four matches remain in the Premier League this season, and Salah is set to part ways with his club of nine years, it could mark the final outing that Salah sees for the Reds.

Highlighting the saddening scenario on Sky Sports' Soccer Saturday, Tim Sherwood said: "Worrying. This could be the end in a Liverpool shirt, done his hamstring.

"Frimpong's going to come on and it don't look good, if he's coming off for a hamstring. It wasn't when he was running, he tries to pass the ball and you see him pull up and grab his left hamstring.

"This is the end of Mohamed Salah in a Liverpool shirt, what a sad way to end. He will get an amazing ovation.

"What a shame, what a shame it has to end this way. There's no way he's back for that last game against Brentford."

Elsewhere, chief Liverpool writer for the Echo, Ian Doyle wrote on social media: "If Salah has done his hamstring then that might be it for him in the #LFC shirt.

"Only four weeks of season remaining. We will wait and see what the diagnosis is."

Speaking about the issue during TNT Sports' coverage of Manchester City's FA Cup match with Southampton, meanwhile, Steven Gerrard added: "Yes it will be [sad] let's hope that's not the case.

"As Joe [Hart] will tell you, until you get it really assessed by the medical team and you have an MRI on it, you don't really know the extent.

"But if that's the case and it is his last game it'll be extremely sad, not just for Mo, for everyone connected to Liverpool football club because he's been a legend and everyone wants to see him get the send off he deserves."

With 257 goals and 122 assists to his name from 439 appearances, Salah will leave Liverpool this summer as one of their most important servants in recent history. However, his next landing spot remains unknown amid interest from the MLS, Saudi Arabia and other European giants.
