Arne Slot is worried that Mohamed Salah may have played his final game for Liverpool after he was forced off in the win over Crystal Palace on Saturday. Salah was substituted in the 59th minute of the 3-1 victory at Anfield, and with just four games left of the season, he may not be able to return.

Salah went down on the edge of the Palace area and immediately grabbed the back of his left leg. The Liverpool medical staff came onto the pitch to conduct and assessment and Slot decided to replace the Egyptian with Jeremie Frimpong.

The 33-year-old left the pitch to a warm round of applause from the fans inside Anfield and grimaced when speaking to Slot on the sidelines. Salah announced last month that he will leave Liverpool at the end of the season and Liverpool don't yet know the full extent of his problem.

"Another win and another injury. It's the story of our season," Slot told Match of the Day. "It's too early to say but we all know Mo and how hard it is for him to leave the pitch. For Mo to leave the pitch, it shows you something but we have to wait and see how bad it is."

Speaking on Sky Sports' Soccer Saturday, Tim Sherwood said: "This could be the end of him in a Liverpool shirt. You can see him grab his left hamstring. What a sad end for him. What an ovation there will be for him."

Salah has played 440 times for Liverpool since signing from Roma in 2017. He has 257 goals for the club, including 12 this season, but will move on in the summer, having decided not to see out the final year of his £350,000-a-week contract.

Liverpool were 2-0 up at the time of Salah's injury thanks to goals from Alexander Isak and Andy Robertson in the first half. Palace cut the deficit through Daniel Munoz's controversial goal, while Freddie Woodman was down injured, and hit the post through Jorgen Strand Larsen before Florian Wirtz made the points safe with a powerful finish in injury-time.

The Reds have four games remaining this season, all in the Premier League, as they look to secure a top-four finish. Saturday's victory was their third in succession in the league and moved them above Aston Villa into fourth.
