Everton have lost to West Ham United on a damaging day for the club’s pursuit of European football.
The Toffees produced a poor performance down in the capital, with the Hammers scoring in injury-time to take all three points.
Tomas Soucek gave West ham the lead via a corner, but Everton found an equaliser through Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall.

Everton then failed to push on after that goal, and it was West Ham who responded, with Callum Wilson popping up unmarked to finish.
It was a very frustrating day at the office for Everton, who just lacked a spark and looked devoid of ideas all afternoon.
Someone who did not lack spark though was Crysencio Summerville, who is said to be on Everton’s transfer radar.

A couple of weeks ago it was claimed that Everton have been keeping tabs on Summerville heading into the summer.
MORE EVERTON STORIES
This calendar year he’s made a real difference for West Ham in their push for Premier League safety.
There were always going to be eyes on him today from both sets of fans. And he certainly caught the eye.
Summerville was lively throughout the contest, and completed 18/25 (72%) passes as per Sofascore.
Two of these were ‘key’, and he also created one big chance.
Who is to blame for this defeat, then? 😡

Summerville was also remarkably industrious – he contested 22 duels, which was easily the most of any player in the game from either side, winning 10.
He made life difficult for Jake O’Brien, who was taken off by David Moyes just after the hour mark. It certainly wasn’t a comfortable afternoon for the big man.
He is to West Ham what Iliman Ndiaye is to Everton, and the Dutchman definitely outshone his counterpart today.
Comparatively, Ndiaye contested just 11 duels, and did not make any key passes or create any big chances in the game, and faded in the second-half.
Everton must look at potential Summerville deal
It’s clear that Everton lack creativity, despite having the odd player who can come up trumps from time to time.
Summerville is certainly someone the club should be looking at this summer – especially if West Ham get relegated.
That said though, Everton’s bid for European football was damaged today, and missing out on a competition won’t help in terms of attracting players.
But regardless, Summerville is clearly someone who can help address the creativity issues in the team.
Him coming in as well as a top striker could change the game for Everton.
