Women's preview: Liverpool Feds (H)

Derby County Women will look to end their FA Women’s National League Northern Premier Division season on a high when they face Liverpool Feds at the Don Amott Arena on Sunday (2pm kick-off).

Sam Griffiths’ side secured their Tier 3 status for another year with a 2-0 victory at West Bromwich Albion Women last time out, with goals from Yasmin Mason and Becky May.

Having matched their points total from last season, a win on Sunday would see the Ewes finish eighth, one place higher than in the previous campaign.

They will also hope to achieve back-to-back home victories, having swept past Hull City in their last home fixture at the end of March.

Derby came out on top in the first meeting between the sides back in November, with a Hannah Ward goal and a dramatic late penalty save from Lucy Jones sealing the victory at Walton Hall Park.

The Opponents

As the division’s third-highest scorers, lots of goals have come to be expected in Liverpool Feds games.

Their last two results, a 3-3 draw with Rugby Borough and a 3-2 defeat at West Brom, have certainly lived up to that billing.

Chloe Fisher will be the player to watch – her 16 goals this season is double the tally of the visitors’ second-top scorer.

An FA Cup and League Cup winner as a player, boss Leanne Duffy has spent more than a decade with the Feds, including eight as manager.

Across her tenure, Duffy has transformed the side to become part of the Northern Premier Division furniture; this season’s already-confirmed seventh-place finish follows seasons where they have finished ninth, sixth and eighth.
