Alexander Isak has praised the role of Freddie Woodman during Liverpool’s 3-1 win over Crystal Palace on Saturday.
The Reds finally beat Palace at the fourth time of asking this season, with Isak joining Andy Robertson and Florian Wirtz on the scoresheet.
But while it was a good day for the Swede especially, it was Woodman who once again took many of the post-match plaudits.
Having seen him deliver a second top Liverpool performance in the space of a week, Isak added his voice to those hailing the goalkeeper.

Isak impressed by Woodman
One thing that unites Isak and Woodman is that they are both former Newcastle players. In fact, before Saturday, Woodman’s only previous Premier League start came with the Magpies on the opening day of the 2021/22 season.
He conceded four against West Ham that afternoon, but enjoyed a much better outing while facing boyhood club Palace.
After making five crucial saves, Woodman earned praise from Isak, who spoke to LFCTV after the game.

“I think he did absolutely brilliant,” raved the No. 9. “I think it’s never easy to come in, especially in a position like him where you kind of have to be ready but it’s not often that you get the chance.
“It was really big from him to be able to put in a performance like this. I think he deserved a clean sheet! But a big performance from him.
“That’s the difficult part of being a goalkeeper, because you never know when the chance is coming and you’ve always got to be ready. But we’re really happy for him.”
Slot has been positive on the fitness of Alisson Becker ahead of next Sunday’s visit to Manchester United, but if the Brazilian is not passed fit in time, few would begrudge Woodman another chance to strut his stuff at Old Trafford.
The 29-year-old clearly has the trust and backing of his teammates, and with fans immediately warming to his underdog tale, many would no doubt be pleased to see Woodman go again for another huge match.
