Report: Everton fans everywhere will welcome what Angus Kinnear is now doing after latest VAR…

Everton fans were left fuming over another VAR call yesterday against West Ham United – and it appears Toffees officials have had enough.

Everton fell to a 2-1 defeat against the Hammers at London Stadium.

Despite a late equaliser from Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Everton could not hold on for a point or push for a winner, with Callum Wilson popping up to score in injury-time for the hosts.

Why has it taken this long for Everton to complain? 🤷‍♂️

The club have FINALLY had enough… 😡

But there was real frustration for Everton towards the end of the game, as a handball in the box by Mateus Fernandes went unpunished.

No penalty was awarded and VAR then upheld the on-field decision, and the Premier League insisted the handball was accidental.

The decision left David Moyes furious after the game.

And Everton are now set to act on their anger.

It’s been reported this morning by journalist Paul Joyce that Angus Kinnear, Everton’s CEO, is set to contact PGMOL and raise concerns over consistency of refereeing in Premier League following the ‘penalty’ incident in the loss to West Ham.

The Toffees have regularly been on the receiving end of poor decisions this season.

Some calls that spring to mind include, Thierno Barry not getting a penalty when he was kicked in the box by Willian Saliba in the game against Arsenal.

In the very first game against Leeds United, a handball was given against James Tarkowski in a decision that was widely slammed.

Can someone tell me why this wasn’t a penalty? 😤

And against Brighton at the start of the season, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall was harshly penalised for blocking the ball from close range.

Everton, of course, are not the only team to have suffered at the hands of the officials and VAR this season.

It just seems that in general, mistakes are being made far too often, given all the help they get.

It remains to be seen if Kinnear’s complaints will lead to any kind of change, but hopefully it will force the PGMOL to look inwards.
