Simone not surprised by Milan’s problems ahead of Juve clash: “No real strikers”

**The former AC Milan striker Marco Simone has shared his thoughts on tonight’s game against Juventus, as well as the troubles of the current forwards.**

Simeone had some very successful years playing with the red and black shirt, finding the back of the net 75 times in 260 games (plus 30 assists). In the process, he won the Scudetto four times, the Champions League twice, the UEFA Super Cup three times, and the list goes on.

Gazzetta dello Sport picked [an appropriate man to interview](https://www.gazzetta.it/Calcio/Serie-A/Milan/26-04-2026/marco-simone-intervista-milan-juve.shtml?refresh_ce), in other words, ahead of the big game between Milan and Juventus tonight. He stated that he’s a little bit disappointed as the Rossoneri, at one point, seemed like they could challenge Inter for the Scudetto.

**On the game…**

“It’s a crucial match in the race for the Champions League, and I say this with a bit of sadness, because I thought Milan would have been able to cause Inter more trouble in the race for the Scudetto.”

**Did Allegri disappoint you a little?**

“No, I was just criticising him for his statements about fourth place as a goal. Milan, like Juve, shouldn’t and can’t set limits, even though I understand that in today’s football, qualifying for the Champions League is vital for financial sustainability. As for the rest, there’s little I can say to Max.”

**As a striker, however, you will have noticed that no Milan striker has scored since March 1st…**

“A worrying fact, but one that doesn’t surprise me that much. AC Milan’s forwards don’t score because… they’re not real strikers. None of them lives for goals.”

**Leao as a centre-forward is a no, then?**

“I’m not saying he can’t do it, but Rafa is very limited in the position he’s playing now. And I’m sorry, because he’s a real talent: he has the physique and technique of a top player.”

**Not that Juve’s strikers are shining…**

“David and Openda scored goals in bursts in France, but in Italy, football is slower and more tactical.”

**What match are you expecting?**

“I’ve heard that a draw would be good for both teams, but I don’t think they will go out there looking for a 0-0 draw. It will be a very open game.”

Rafae Leao is [**expected to play from start once again**](https://sempremilan.com/gds-xis-milan-juventus-estupinan-nod), as is Christian Pulisic, with Allegri making just two changes to the XI (both on the flanks). It will be up to the star duo to lead Milan and prove that they are capable of finding the back of the net.
