Manager suggests 14 G/A Everton midfield target will cost at least £13m this summer, as PL…

Everton have recently been linked with Issa Doumbia, and may now have an indication as to how much his club could sell him for.

It will be a busy summer for Everton, regardless of whether David Moyes secures European football or not.

Which of these players do you want to see Everton SIGN in 2026?

The priority positions for the Toffees are thought to be a new right-back, centre-back and forward.

But in recent weeks there have also been links to new midfielders, suggesting that Moyes may be looking to move one or two on this summer.

Earlier this week, it was claimed that Issa Doumbia is a player who’s been on Everton’s radar, amid the midfielder having a sold season with Venezia.

And now, Everton may have learned the kind of ballpark they’ll need to play in to sign him.

Indeed, as well as Everton, it’s thought Newcastle United, Chelsea, Crystal Palace, Nottingham Forest, and Brighton from the Premier League are all keen.

AS Roma – The Friedkin Group’s other club – are also interested.

This season the midfielder has regularly impressed in Serie B – and yesterday he again stood out in the 2-0 win over Empoli.

Doumbia hit his ninth goal of the season, and came in for praise after the game from his manager Giovanni Stroppa, who appeared to suggest the player’s valuation amid interest from Portuguese giants Sporting CP.

He said (via Bola Na Rede): “This morning I spoke to him at the head of the team. I told him that €15 million (£13 million) for him and for Sporting is very little, so he had to value himself and try to score some goals [laughs]. So, in a way, I was also a good motivator [laughs].”

The publication also added that Doumbia had ‘shone’ against Empoli.

Doumbia looks an exciting prospect

Clearly, Doumbia is a young player with exciting potential.

He’s posted great numbers this season and looks to be the kind of all-action midfielder a lot of clubs crave these days.

It remains to be seen if Everton can win this particular race, but Doumbia will surely be on the move this summer, even despite Venezia looking likely to secure promotion to Serie A.

But the competition is strong so Everton will not have it easy.

And one thing that could perhaps count against the Toffees is Moyes’ apparent lack of trust in young players which has been clear to see this season.

At 22, Doumbia does have experience under his belt, but is still the kind of age that Moyes would need a very high level of trust if the Scot was to play him regularly.
