Allegri discusses Leao and Pulisic’s ‘need’ and Juventus’ quality: “Can decide the match”

Ahead of the game against Juventus, AC Milan’s Massimiliano Allegri spoke to the media about what is needed tonight from his team collectively and certain players.

Had things gone differently in Verona last weekend, Milan would not be approaching this game with the serenity that is surrounding the team. Indeed, there would be significant pressure on them to get a result, with the Champions League race heating up.

However, the uneventful win has calmed things around the club. There are still questions, but there is a feeling of peace. Indeed, the fears about an omission from next season’s Champions League have been quietened.

Allegri speaks before Milan-Juve

A loss this evening would quickly bring those feelings back to life, but it seems unlikely that either manager is going to play like they need to win. Instead, it could be a case of getting over the line and potentially grabbing a goal.

At least on paper, it shouldn’t be a high octane game. Speaking to DAZN before the game, as MilanNews relayed, Allegri offered his thoughts on tonight’s clash.

On the game…

“It’s always Milan-Juventus, it will be a great match. We’re facing a team who are doing well, they haven’t conceded a goal in three games. We’ll have to be organised and focused and improve technically.”

On Pulisic and Leao…

“They’re doing well, both just need a goal. They’re two players who can decide the match at any moment.”

On Juventus…

“They’re good at moving around, we’ll have to be compact. They have players who are good at one-on-one situations, they have one of the strongest squads in the league, and Spalletti’s arrival has given them something extra.”
