It remains to be seen whether or not Mohamed Salah has played his final game for Liverpool after he limped off with an injury against Crystal Palace, but the speculation about where he will head next has only just begun.

Salah confirmed during the March international break that he would be leaving the Anfield side a year ahead of his contract expiring, with Liverpool allowing him to depart without a transfer fee being required.

And it has been claimed that one Saudi Pro League team — Al Nassr, nonetheless, where Cristiano Ronaldo now plays — has given the green light for a swoop to pair the Egyptian with the Portuguese.

Al Nassr head coach Jorge Jesus, formerly of Benfica, has given his approval for the Saudi giant to pursue Salah this summer, according to the Middle Eastern outlet Okaz.

The veteran manager is said to be eager to sign Salah and pair him with Ronaldo. It has even been claimed that Al Nassr is now the frontrunner to sign the Liverpool number 11.

However, there is more to the situation. The future of Jesus is not yet confirmed, with negotiations ongoing regarding an extension to his deal with the Riyadh-based side.

Only once that is signed and sealed will Al Nassr be able to properly finalize who it might try to sign in the summer transfer window, when more money is expected to be splashed.

Salah will not be short of options, even if he hasn't decided where he is going yet. This week, Juventus was heavily touted for a swoop before its sporting director played down those links.

Marco Ottolini insisted that there was no truth in there being contact between Juventus and Salah, in the same week that the Old Lady was also heavily reported to be in for Alisson Becker.

"What is being said about negotiations to sign Mohamed Salah is not true," Ottolini stated. "There is absolutely nothing about it at this time."

Liverpool travels to Manchester United next weekend but Salah is a doubt to be involved in that clash, at the very least. The Reds end the season with games against Chelsea, Aston Villa and Brentford.

Egypt director Ibrahim Hassan has already claimed that Salah could be out for around a month. If that proves to be correct, it would put the rest of his Liverpool career in doubt, but not his participation in the summer's World Cup.

Liverpool.com says: Salah is still more than good enough to play at a high level. If Juventus gets into the Champions League next season, that could be one good example of taking a step down, but still being involved in big games. Saudi Arabia can wait.
