Everton are linked with several Championship players at the moment.

David Moyes has previously stated his desire to recruit from the second tier, as last year, he said: “The Championship is always a place we should be looking to see.”

Frank Lampard wants to sign Everton target Hayden Hackney

Everton are monitoring Middlesbrough midfielder Hayden Hackney after his sensational season in the Championship.

Hackney was recently crowned Championship Player of the Season, so clearly there will be a number of clubs rivalling the Toffees for his signature.

One of those will be Coventry City, as according to the Daily Mail, Lampard is exploring a deal to sign the Boro talisman.

Coventry will be an attractive proposition this summer as they will be a Premier League club for the first time since 2001.

Working under Lampard is a draw, especially for a midfielder, but the Toffees should still be confident of fending off Coventry’s interest.

It has been reported that Hackney will cost suitors around £30m, so that price tag could put off a number of clubs.

Should Everton be making a summer move for Hayden Hackney at a reported £30m?

Perhaps he'd be a good long-term successor to Idrissa Gana Gueye… 🤔

The Toffees will have to shell out a substantial sum of cash to sign an adequate Idrissa Gana Gueye successor, as the 36-year-old comes to the end of his contract.

Hackney is a different profile of midfielder, as he likes to dictate the tempo and contribute in the final third.

So, perhaps it indicates that Moyes is looking to move towards a more possession-based brand of football next term.
