Jeremie Frimpong's brilliant unseen reaction to Alexander Isak's first Liverpool goal for four months

Alexander Isak was the most relieved man in Anfield on Saturday after scoring his first Liverpool goal since December against Crystal Palace.

The Swede took down Alexis Mac Allister’s wayward shot with a brilliant first touch before mishitting a shot into the ground to leave Dean Henderson helpless.

It was a big moment for Isak, who wheeled away to celebrate in the Liverpool sunshine. But if the Reds’ No. 9 thought he was happy, then some unseen footage has emerged to show that teammate Jeremie Frimpong was just as delighted for him on the touchline.

Frimpong delights in seeing Isak finally score

Though he has come in for some criticism for his performances recently, Frimpong’s personality alone makes him key to this Liverpool squad.

The 25-year-old is a bubbly, enthusiastic person and it was no surprise to see him as the first one to celebrate with Isak on Saturday.

As seen in some fan footage filmed from the Sir Kenny Dalglish stand and posted on X on Sunday, Frimpong was bouncing up and down as Isak ran towards him.

Holding two hands out to mimic Isak’s trademark gun-pointing celebration, Frimpong excitedly shifts from foot to foot as he awaits a cuddle with the goalscorer.

The Dutchman’s grin can be seen from the other side of the ground as he embraces Isak, before Milos Kerkez and Joe Gomez join the party.

With other Liverpool players perhaps expecting the flag to be raised, there were muted celebrations from those on the pitch when Isak scored.

But Frimpong clearly had more faith that his striker had beaten the offside trap, and did not wait for confirmation.
