Wolves and Coventry now fighting to sign "outstanding" forward who looks like a young Salah

Wolverhampton Wanderers and Coventry City are now battling it out over a summer move for a young forward who has been likened to Mohamed Salah.

Wolves and Coventry set to swap divisions as Sky Blues seal Championship title

Coventry's promotion to the Premier League was secured earlier this month, and they've done it in fashion, lifting the Championship title after beating Wrexham 3-1 at the CBS Arena on Sunday.

Wolves, on the other hand, have essentially known relegation was an inevitability for quite some time, and their Championship status for the 2026-27 campaign was confirmed after West Ham United's 0-0 draw with Crystal Palace.

The Molineux outfit have won just three Premier League matches all season, with a further eight draws taking them to a points tally of just 17.

Consequently, a move to Coventry seems like it would be a more attractive proposition in the summer transfer window, and they have already identified a plethora of targets, including Sheffield United star Gustavo Hamer, Chelsea's Josh Acheampong and AZ Alkmaar's Troy Parrott.

The Old Gold want Sunderland midfielder Dan Neil to be their first summer signing, but remain keen on strengthening their forward line too, with their top Premier League scorers this season, Tolu Arokodare and Rodrigo Gomes, netting just three times.

Rob Edwards' side are now going head-to-head with Coventry for the signing of Stoke City star Million Manhoef, according to a report from TEAMtalk, and Eredivisie giants Ajax are also credited with an interest.

Stoke reporter Pete Smith has lauded the Championship winger as "outstanding", and he has amassed seven goals and five assists in 44 second tier appearances this season.

Million Manhoef's key statistics and attributes

Perhaps one of the most impressive things about the Dutchman is his ability to play in a number of different positions, regularly showcasing his versatility throughout his career to date, including matches at youth level.

During his time in the Netherlands, the former Vitesse man also received plaudits for his pace, dribbling and agility, and was likened to Liverpool star Mohamed Salah by scout Jacek Kulig.

Manhoef, who rakes in £12,500-a-week at the bet365 Stadium, is still only 24-years-old, and could be an exciting long-term signing for either Wolves or Coventry.
