Croatian legend and veteran AC Milan attacking midfielder Luka Modric suffered a fractured cheekbone in an accidental head-to-head clash with Juventus's Italy skipper and midfielder Manuel Locatelli in Sunday's goalless draw at the San Siro and will have to have surgery, the Rossoneri said Monday.
"The tests performed today revealed a fracture of the left cheekbone that will require surgery, scheduled for the next few hours. Further details will be communicated after the operation," AC Milan announced.
Former Real Madrid icon Modrić, 40, is widely regarded as one of the greatest midfielders of all time, and as the greatest Croatian player ever.
