Wayne Rooney didn’t pull any punches when he spoke about the controversial handball incident in West Ham United versus Everton.
David Moyes’ side fell to a disappointing 2-1 loss at London Stadium, missing a great opportunity to rise a few places in the Premier League table.

The Toffees got back on level terms through Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, but then conceded a late goal to Callum Wilson.
But post-match talk has been dominated by the handball incident involving Mateus Fernandes that went unpunished.
And now, ex-Everton striker Wayne Rooney has given his two cents.

There was fury on Everton’s part after referee Stuart Attwell and VAR Michael Salisbury didn’t award Everton a penalty between them.
Moyes raged about the incident, as have Evertonians far and wide. Tottenham Hotspur fans were also deeply unhappy, as the call obviously benefitted their relegation rivals West Ham.

The Premier League said it was ‘accidental’ from Fernandes.
But Wayne Rooney thinks that’s nonsense. While chatting about the relegation battle, he said on The Wayne Rooney Show: “That penalty that should have been for Everton… this is why I hate VAR. That is an absolute disgrace!

“I just wanted to get that out there.”
Off the back of this latest controversy, Everton CEO Angus Kinnear is complaining to PGMO about officiating standards.

Everton have been front and centre of several controversies this season, and many fans have grown tired of VAR and those operating it.
It remains to be seen if anything will come of Kinnear contacting PGMO, but most won’t be holding their breath.
