Aston Villa icon reveals what Grealish told him days before images of him asleep at bar emerge…

Gabriel Agbonlahor has revealed the conversation he had with Jack Grealish in the wake of the viral images of the Manchester City ace emerging online.

Grealish, who's on loan at Everton, had his 2025/26 campaign cut short after a foot injury that required surgery. He has been out of action since picking up an injury against his former club Aston Villa in January, but made headlines for all the wrong reasons when images of him "boozing with pals" surfaced.

According to The Sun, Grealish fell asleep at a rooftop bar in Manchester on April 25 for a 'boozy afternoon session with pals.'

Images show the star forward nodding off while slumped on a chair with a group of friends. 'Pals tried to wake him. The booze must have caught up with him,' an onlooker said.

Former Aston Villa star Agbonlahor shared his thoughts on the Grealish images by revealing that he had a conversation with the 30-year-old prior to the boozy session. According to Agbonlahor, Grealish told him he's set to return to training in July, having undergone rehab on his foot.

On talkSPORT, he said: "My first thought was that I’ve been in that situation, and it just shows the sort of people that are out there who are taking pictures and what they are doing with them. It’s happened to me quite a few times, and just, come on, do you not have anything better to do with your life than taking pictures?

"He’s been through a lot. He’s gone through a season-ending injury, and he’s doing his rehab. I’ve seen what he’s been doing in rehab, he’s working hard to get back, and I think he’s back available for training in July, he said to me the other day."

Agbonlahor added: "He won’t be happy with those pictures coming out, but I’m sure when he’s doing his training, his rehab, he’s doing everything right. It sums up this world we live in now that you want to take pictures and send them off."

McCoist also waded in on the conversation and hit out at the situation, defending Grealish in the process. He slammed the invention of camera phones, calling it "scandalous" in a passionate defense of the player.

"Might just be the worst invention on the planet. The camera phone," he exclaimed. "I'm telling you right now, scandalous!

"It's not a good look," he continued. "Of course, it's not a good look. Let's not kid ourselves on, right? But at the same time, what happened to a bit of privacy? You know what I mean? "Listen, not a good look. I just hope we man's fit, off and running at the start of the season."
