A number of former Everton managers have fallen upwards since being sacked by the Toffees.
Ronald Koeman ended up managing Barcelona despite receiving his P45 at Everton in October 2017 as the Toffees sat 18th in the Premier League.
Furthermore, Roberto Martinez has managed Belgium and Portugal since leaving Everton in 2016 – while even Sean Dyche got a taste of the UEFA Europa League with Nottingham Forest earlier this season.
Now, another former Everton boss could be in line for a significant role as Chelsea decide to hold talks with Marco Silva – according to the Standard.

Chelsea set to speak to Marco Silva
It is said that Chelsea’s directors have chosen to approach the 48-year-old to see if he holds any interest in replacing Liam Rosenior at Stamford Bridge.
Silva – who Real Madrid are also considering – sees his contract with Fulham expire at the end of this term, and does not seem short of suitors after an impressive season at Craven Cottage.
The west Londoners could still qualify for Europe, currently sitting two points away from sixth with four games remaining – it is a congested area of the division, with Everton just a point behind Fulham.

The Standard add that Chelsea plan to speak to Andoni Iraola and Xabi Alonso in addition to Silva, as they aim to make a measured decision rather than rush into replacing Rosenior.
Another former Everton boss in Frank Lampard is a contender for the Chelsea vacancy too – after steering Coventry back into the Premier League as champions of the Championship this term.
The former England international has already managed Chelsea from 2019 to 2021, before his move to Everton in 2022.

It would be odd to see Lampard or Silva in the dugout at Stamford Bridge not too far on from their stints at Goodison Park, but very little surprises us about the decisions Chelsea make nowadays.
