Opinion: The Friedkins have failed to read the room as Everton unveil premium earner

The Friedkin Group have completely failed to read the room at Everton.

A lot of good work has been done by the new owners at Everton since their takeover in December, 2024.

However, there are some signs beginning to emerge where The Friedkin Group have failed to grasp the feeling of the supporters.

Why do you think Dan Friedkin still has not shown his face at Everton? 🤨

The Friedkin Group introduce Everton Optimum Experience

Everton fans have vented their frustrations over ticket pricing on TalkingPoints, with the club having recently followed others by increasing their cost of entry at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

However, it has not ended there, with the Friedkins now unveiling a new premium service which will cost supporters £12.5k per person.

‘Created exclusively for our Premium Members, these curated experiences are designed to bring you closer to the Club than ever before, combining rare access, refined hospitality, and the opportunity to share unforgettable moments alongside the Club, Everton Giants and senior leadership,’ read the club statement.

The Optimum Experience will kick-off with a trip to the south of France, where supporters will take part in a four-day ‘journey’ with sister club AS Cannes.

That is not the only option, with Everton also offering a £3k experience for the final game of the season against Tottenham Hotspur.

Including a match ticket in the away end, the £3,000 experience will include first-class travel and accommodation ahead of the game in London.

Everton News columnistAlan Myers has already called for the Friedkins to read the room following their season ticket increase.

This shows a significant transition from the club, pushing the ever-growing premium grip on the working person’s game.

Everton have failed to read the room amid supporters’ frustrations

Everton were warned by Liverpool fans’ fury over season ticket increases and yet the club continued with their plans.

At a time when the cost of living is at an all-time high in England, there is seemingly no desire from the People’s Club to make life easier on their loyal supporters.

Of course, the corporate side of the game will always exist, but to offer a £12.5k trip that has very little to do with Everton as a club shows a real sense of the owners being out of touch.

Amid the frustrations over season ticket increases, it will also be frustrating to see tickets for the away end essentially being auctioned off at £3k for supporters without the loyalty points required to secure one through the club.

The Hill Dickinson Stadium has been a huge positive for Everton’s finances, yet the club appear to be pushing the limit in recent weeks over the direction they are taking the club.

Everton supporters may be open to the club grasping opportunities to bring in money, but this is unlikely to go down well with Evertonians.
