Celtic, Everton, Newcastle United and a host of other clubs
Celtic are being linked to a transfer chase that already involves the likes of Premier League duo Everton and Newcastle United.
The defending Premiership champions might not have a long-term manager in place but that does not mean summer transfer work isn’t ongoing. They were linked with Venezia midfielder Issa Doumbia in the winter transfer window amid form in Serie B, and as they look likely for a return to the Italian top flight, the midfielder netted an impressive nine goals and five assists.
That has sparked mass interest and Gazzetta Dello Sport claim Celtic and Southampton are have been joined by several other clubs in the transfer chase spanning several European big hitters. Club Brugge and Espanyol are also keen, as are major Serie A sides looking at his situation, with Portuguese giants Sporting Lisbon on the case. Claims in Italy come after reports from TEAMtalk that Everton and Newcastle United are just two of the clubs interested in giving him a Premier League chance, so Celtic look likely to need a major sales pitch, with plenty other interested suitors.

Who wants to sign Issa Doumbia?
Claims in TEAMtalk had stated: “Newcastle United, Everton, and Chelsea are among several Premier League clubs are circling highly-rated Italy Under-21s midfielder Issa Doumbia, with the Venezia star emerging as one of the most in-demand talents ahead of the summer window. TEAMtalk sources have confirmed that Newcastle, Crystal Palace, Nottingham Forest, and Brighton have all watched him in recent months and are showing interest.
“This is particularly interesting, given that each club are expected to lose a key central midfielder in the upcoming window. Doumbia is viewed as a player capable of stepping in and making an immediate impact and intermediaries have confirmed there is a growing interest in him from within the Premier League. Callum McGregor, Benjamin Nygren, Arne Engels, Arne Oxlade-Chamberlain, Reo Hatate, Luke McCowan and Paulo Bernardo are amongst the midfield options at Celtic right now, with McCowan signing a new deal last week until the summer of 2028. McCowan said of his deal: “I’m just so happy that we got the deal over the line and now I’m able to help the boys for the coming years and be a part of this amazing squad.
