Premier League make announcement ahead of Everton vs Man City at Hill Dickinson Stadium

Everton are back in Premier League action on Monday evening.

After suffering a second successive defeat to West Ham United last weekend, Everton really need a positive reaction.

But, they are up against the title favourites Manchester City, who simply can’t afford to drop a point at this point in the season.

Let us know your predictions ahead of Monday’s huge match on Merseyside! 😬

It’ll be a challenging game for the Toffees, but the home crowd at the Hill Dickinson Stadium could really make a difference under the lights.

Ahead of the clash, the Premier League have made an announcement.

Michael Oliver appointed referee for Everton vs Man City

Michael Oliver has just been announced as the referee for Everton’s clash against Manchester City on Monday.

Oliver is one of two Premier League referees selected to officiate at the World Cup this summer, so he’s widely regarded as one of the best around.

Referee: Michael Oliver

Assistants: Stuart Burt, Nick Greenhalgh

Fourth official: Andy Madley

VAR: Paul Howard

Assistant VAR: Blake Antrobus

However, Oliver does have quite a controversial history with Everton, as he received criticism for not disallowing an Arsenal goal against the Toffees back in May 2024.

Gabriel Jesus was seen to use his hand in the build-up to the 88th-minute winner, but bizarrely, the goal stood.

A few months prior to that, Oliver failed to award a penalty when Dominic Calvert-Lewin was tripped in the box against Bournemouth.

Everton will hope no decisions go against them this time around, as they have to pick up a positive result to stay in the race for a European spot.

David Moyes’ side are two points behind a Conference League spot and three behind the Europa League, so they’ve got it all to play for heading into the business end of the campaign.
