Everton officially submit proposal to sign national hero who's open to joining

Everton have now submitted a bid for PSV Eindhoven star Esmir Bajraktarevic, as they are looking to get a deal done before the World Cup.

Bajraktarevic attracting interest after sending Bosnia & Herzegovina to World Cup

Bajraktarevic became a Bosnian national hero after scoring the winning penalty against 2021 European champions Italy last month, which sent his side to the World Cup against the odds.

Despite being born in Wisconsin, the right-winger opted to represent Bosnia & Herzegovina at international level, and he has now earned 14 caps, off the back of putting in some impressive performances for PSV Eindhoven in the Eredivisie.

The 21-year-old has four goals and five assists to his name in 26 league appearances this season, having cemented himself as an important player since arriving from New England Revolution in the 2025 January transfer window.

At that point, PSV director of football Earnest Stewart hailed the youngster for his ability in one vs one situations, saying: "He is a left-legged player whom we brought in for the right flank. He is very delicate on the ball, has a good cross, is strong in the one-on-one and can also score a goal himself. Esmir is really one of those players who can start surprising people with his actions."

Having made a name for himself for club and country, the forward may now be ready to make the jump to the Premier League, and Everton have wasted no time attempting to win the race for his signature.

According to a report from SportSport (via Sport Witness), the Toffees have now made a concrete offer for Bajraktarevic, as they are looking to get a deal over the line before the World Cup, given that his value could rise if he impresses out in North America.

The Merseyside club have gone 'full throttle', lodging a bid for the former New England Revolution man, having sent scouts to watch him in action on a regular basis, and he particularly caught the eye by grabbing three assists in a 6-1 victory against PEC Zwolle.

The Bosnia star is believed to be willing to consider joining, and a move to Merseyside could be an exciting proposition if they are able to win the race for the European places.

Everton remain in hunt for top seven finish

David Moyes has admitted he is determined for Everton to return to Europe, having not competed in a European competition since a Europa League campaign in the 2017-18 season.

Although the Toffees have lost their last two games on the bounce, coming up short in the Merseyside derby in heartbreaking fashion, they remain firmly in the hunt for the top seven, sitting just two points behind AFC Bournemouth with four games still to play.
