Opinion: It's a real concern how often Everton are linked to this striker, he'd be a poor…

Everton are expected to sign a striker this summer transfer window.

David Moyes wanted a new centre-forward in the January transfer window, but deals are harder to come by at that stage of the season.

Atletico Madrid’s Alexander Sorloth has emerged an Everton target in recent weeks and so too has AZ Alkmaar’s Troy Parrott.

But, there is one number nine who has continuously been linked with a move to the Hill Dickinson Stadium for almost a year.

It’s been a constant Everton rumour, and it’s starting to become quite a concern, as he wouldn’t be a good signing.

Everton keep getting linked to Liam Delap

Everton tried to sign Liam Delap last summer, and Moyes Moyes actually held talks with the then Ipswich Town striker.

However, Delap turned the Toffees down and decided to join Chelsea in a £30m transfer, which hasn’t gone to plan at all.

Delap has been described as ‘nowhere near good enough’ for Chelsea, so is he really an acceptable addition for Everton?

After all, the Toffees are only one point behind them in the table, so if they are to surpass them, they shouldn’t be signing their cast-offs.

But, it seems Moyes still wants to sign Delap, and a loan deal has been mooted for the England under-21 international.

Hopefully Everton look elsewhere, as there are much better options available, most notably Parrott at Alkmaar.
