England international Jack Grealish, currently on loan at Everton, is best known for his Manchester City exploits, but Championship observers still fondly recall his second-tier days in Aston Villa colours.
The attacking midfielder won the play-off final with Villa in 2019, following an impressive campaign in which he notched six goals and seven assists.
Grealish went on to help his boyhood club re-establish themselves as a solid Premier League outfit before joining Man City in the summer of 2021.
The 30-year-old has scored two goals and registered six assists for Everton this term, but hasn't featured since January thanks to a season-ending foot injury.
Jack Grealish jokes about Sheffield Wednesday transfer in exchange with Team GB athleteJack Grealish
Grealish became surplus to requirements at Man City, and endured a lack of game time with the Etihad Stadium outfit last season.
The former Villa man will likely remain a key player for David Moyes' side if he makes a permanent transfer to Everton once he returns to fitness, though.
Meanwhile, the ex-Championship star recently paid a group of Special Olympics GB athletes a visit after they completed the London Marathon.
In footage shared by BBC Sport, Grealish joked about signing for Sheffield Wednesday with one of the athletes, who revealed that he is an Owls fan.
The Everton player said: "Is that who you support, Sheffield Wednesday? One of my good friends played for them for a while, called Barry Bannan.
"He's a legend there, isn't he? We'll see what happens next year. I could be at Sheffield Wednesday."
As alluded to by Grealish, Bannan established legendary status at Hillsborough Stadium before leaving the Owls to join Millwall in the last transfer window, amid the South Yorkshire club's time in administration.
The former Scotland international and the England man are former Villa teammates, albeit the current Everton star didn't make his debut until the eventual Owls ace had already left the West Midlands.

Bannan joined Wednesday from Crystal Palace in the summer of 2015, and spent a decade-and-a-half at Hillsborough Stadium before his Millwall move.
The 36-year-old is now vying to help the Lions clinch promotion to the Premier League.
Millwall sit just one point behind second-place Ipswich Town with only one Championship game remaining, giving them every chance of winning promotion to the top flight.
If the Lions beat already relegated Oxford United this Saturday and Ipswich drop points against Queens Park Rangers, Alex Neil's men will book their spot in next season's Premier League.
Barry Bannan return would add to Owls excitement amid David Storch takeover developments
Barry Bannan
Despite his jokey exchange with a Special Olympics GB athlete, who is a Wednesday fan, Grealish is unlikely to ever sign for the Owls before he retires.
However, as reported by the Wednesday Word, the South Yorkshire club have held internal discussions about bringing Bannan back to Hillsborough ahead of next season.
There is plenty of cautious optimism among Owls supporters, as David Storch is still vying to complete his takeover by Friday, and the S6 faithful would be even more delighted if the transaction is followed by Bannan's return.
