Report: The five positions Everton want to strengthen this summer

Everton are planning to revamp the squad in the summer transfer window.

A story from TEAMtalk states that The Friedkin Group have ambitious plans at the Hill Dickinson Stadium regardless of whether Everton qualify for European football this season, with the Toffees aiming to bolster as many as five different areas.

However, it sounds as if David Moyes might be at odds with his employers when it comes to recruitment.

Everton want to bolster five areas of the squad, but the striker department is not a priority

TEAMtalk state that Moyes is keen for Everton to sign a new competitor for Thierno Barry and Beto up top.

However, The Friedkin Group are said to mainly want reinforcements in the centre of defence, left-back, right-back, central midfield and also a new winger.

Any move for a new striker will depend on how much of the budget remains, according to the report.

In that respect, you could argue that Moyes and The Friedkin Group have different priorities this summer, adding to previous concerns over whether the Glaswegian is on the same page as his bosses.

The Friedkin Group are reportedly keen to lower the average age of the Everton squad, although Moyes tends to prefer his more experienced options such as James Tarkowski and Idrissa Gueye – often neglecting young talents like Merlin Rohl and Tyler Dibling.

Will TFG have to move away from Moyes to achieve their recruitment model? 😬

Dan Friedkin.

Dibling has made just four starts in the Premier League following his £40m move from Southampton last August – while £22m has been spent on Rohl for the German to make only two Premier League starts this term.

Despite this, the Guardian say Moyes is still expected to sign a new contract at Everton this summer – his current terms expire in July 2027.

Only time will tell whether the 63-year-old and The Friedkin Group get along without any hitches.
