Douglas Luiz warming up for Aston Villa

Juventus have detected ‘a certain coolness’ from Aston Villa in recent attempts to negotiate regarding Douglas Luiz’s future at Villa Park.

Tuttosport report Juventus suspect Aston Villa have no intention of paying €25m to sign Luiz on a permanent basis this summer.

Aston Villa cool on transfer

According to the newspaper, Juventus are growing convinced that Aston Villa do not want Douglas Luiz back permanently at the end of the season.

They’ve taken note of Luiz’s lack of minutes for Villa in the league and cup in the last few weeks. And they’ve also noticed ‘a certain coolness’ when they’ve tried to approach their counterparts in Birmingham about the situation.

They’re now growing concerned that the €25m clause in the loan deal won’t be used. So much so that Juventus now plan to ‘review the situation’ with the midfielder’s agent, Kia Joorabchian, in the coming days.

They want to know, clearly, whether Luiz’s second spell at Villa Park is over or if there is ‘room for improvement’. The Italian giants may even offer a discount to tempt Aston Villa into the deal.

Summer plans

The reality is that Juventus do not want Douglas Luiz back this summer. His time in Turin is considered finished and over.

But Aston Villa do not seem inclined to pay, and all signs point to a return at the end of the season. That’s bad news, as Juventus would need to find a new suitor willing to pay €25m. That’s the lowest they can sell for to avoid capital losses on the Brazilian.

The hope is that he can enjoy a resurgence at the end of the season. But the signs are not good at this moment in time.

Luiz has very much fallen out of favour under Unai Emery again. And the Villans aren’t showing any signs they want to pay the fee they agreed to either. That’s causing mild panic back at Juventus.
