Former Gunners midfielder Ray Parlour has added fuel to growing speculation that forward Gabriel Jesus could leave Arsenal this summer, according to multiple reports circulating in the football media this week.
Parlour, a popular voice among Arsenal supporters and pundits, suggested that Jesus — who has been a key figure for the club since his £45 million transfer from Manchester City in 2022 — may seek a fresh challenge as he enters the final year of his contract. Speaking to Metro via BetMGM, Parlour expressed his belief that Jesus could leave the Emirates: “I think Jesus might leave at the end of the season, he is at that age where he wants to be playing week in, week out. We could lose him. We had four strikers when I played.
“That’s what I don’t understand. (Regardless of Jesus leaving), bring in another one anyway. That can give the other options a lift because they see the standard being set.”
Jesus’s current deal at Arsenal runs until 2027, but with just one year left and no extension agreed, a summer move is emerging as a distinct possibility. Some reports even suggest the club could be open to selling him for a significant fee now rather than risk losing him on a free transfer next year.
Market valuations cited in some outlets place Jesus’s worth in the region of around €21.9 million, reflecting his diminished influence this season — a stark contrast to the substantial outlay Arsenal made to bring him to North London.
Parlour’s commentary doesn’t end at Jesus’s potential exit. He’s also thrown his weight behind the idea of Arsenal recruiting a new striker, naming Julián Álvarez — currently of Atlético Madrid — as an ideal acquisition to bolster the club’s forward options.
