The title races are already over in Germany and Italy, and Barcelona and PSG look set to be crowned champions of Spain and France next weekend.
But in England, the race to become Premier League champions looks like it might come to the wire, and that goal difference could be the difference in the end between Manchester City and Arsenal.
Not only is the Premier League the most watched in Europe, it is also the most competitive. That is why they have secured weeks ago the extra place available for a fifth Champions League place. If UEFA rules had allowed it, Premier league teams would have probably been entitled to the other one as well.
One Premier League team is guaranteed to appear in the Europa League final, and Crystal Palace are well placed to appear in the Europa Conference League final. And if Arsenal can get past Atletico Madrid in their Champions League semi-final, it will mean English teams making it through to the final of all three European competitions.
That is despite them not getting the help teams in other leagues get from their football federations when it comes to rearranging games to allow extra time to prepare for major European leagues.
And that is why, whoever triumphs between City and Arsenal, they will have deserved it. They will have clinched the title in the hardest league there is to win.
