Stephen Robinson has warned that some of his summer signings won’t be sexy but they will bring much-needed consistency to his Aberdeen squad.
The Dons manager has stabilised the Dons by dragged them away from relegation danger and they are on the verge of safeguarding their Premiership status.
Robinson has his recruitment team working on plans for next season and has already made it clear that he is looking to strengthen the core of his team. He is looking to bring a physique and strength to his team to bring a bit of stability so they can make more of an impact in the Premiership.
Robinson confirmed: ”Everybody knows the type of players that we're missing and the goal is to sign players that complement each other, that bring the best out of players and not constantly sign projects.
"We have to have a balance and we haven't maybe had that throughout the season, that balance. That's what we aim to get.
"Some of the names won't be sexy, but they'll be boys that week in, week out will be a 7-8 out of 10 in the SPL.
"And then around that, you need to get the ones that will make a difference, the ones that win games for you.
“But again, I reiterate there has to be a balance to the squad and that's something I'm aiming for.”
The Irishman has also admitted he has a void in his squad in terms of age that he will be looking to fill. He has young players and older boys but wants more in the mid-range.
Robinson has already made that clear to sporting director Lutz Pfannenstiel and his recruitment team. Aberdeen had Hibs striker Martin Boyle on their list of targets, but that move is unlikely to happen.
The World Cup-bound Australian has a number of lucrative deals outside of Scotland.

Robinson stated: "The world's a smaller place now with technology, so we can see every game on Wyscout and we had very good people at St Mirren that recruited. We’’ve got very good people here now as well.
"There's been changes. There'll be more changes as we go, but they know what I want.
"They know the type of player that I want.”
Aberdeen are also expected to see Peter Ambrose and Kusini Yengi return from loan spells this summer.
Nigerian forward Ambrose has struggled to make an impact at Diosgyori VTK, who have been relegated from the Hungarian top-flight.
Yengi is also out at Japanese side Cerezo Osaka and his time there has been curtailed by a thigh injury.
Osaka have the option to sign the Australian international permanently but that is now looking extremely unlikely.
Meanwhile, Robinson has joked he has taken a leaf out of Diego Simeone’s book - even though it has got him into bother with his own wife!
He said: “Did you watch Simeone the other night? (in the Champions League, against Arsenal) We're a team that's very, very quiet.
"We don't have loads of people that speak, so it's just driving. People trying to push young boys over the line when you look at the age group that started in that back five.
"I like to win football matches. So if you're not on the touchline wanting to win, you shouldn't be there.

"Everyone's got a different way of doing it. I am trying to be calmer, so that's me a wee bit calmer.
"So hopefully as the season goes on I'll calm down a little bit. But I'm desperate to win football matches for Aberdeen.
"If that comes across as that brilliant, encouraging players, demanding, driving players, then that's why I coach.
"Yes, my wife was at the game, so she did say to me, calm down on the touchline, you're going to have a heart attack.
"So yeah, she's probably worried about me more than anything."
