Sky Sports: Man Utd now eyeing move for 'incredible' Arsenal star who started their last match

Manchester United are considering a summer move for Arsenal star Myles Lewis-Skelly as details of an expected £200m warchest next season come to light, according to Sky Sports.

Man United have been handed a huge financial boost for the club after they sealed qualification for the Champions League next season following Sunday's 3-2 win against Liverpool at Old Trafford.

Not only does a return to Europe's elite club competition potentially boost their summer transfer budget, it will also make them a more attractive proposition to targets who want to play at the very highest level.

Firstly, INEOS need to decide if caretaker boss Michael Carrick is going to get the job on a permanent basis, after taking the club from sixth to third and qualifying for the Champions League with three games to spare, having replaced Ruben Amorim in January.

Carrick is 'optimistic' he will be given the role full-time according to GIVEMESPORT sources, and should that happen the next job will be to strengthen a squad that faces many more games next season.

The Red Devils' main transfer priority is to bolster their central midfield with the expected departures of Casemiro and Manuel Ugarte, but they could look at other positions too.

United's top midfield target is Nottingham Forest star Elliot Anderson, who looks set to start for England at this summer's World Cup.

However, the Red Devils also hold a long-term interest in Brighton and Hove Albion's Carlos Baleba and Sandro Tonali of Newcastle United.

As they consider strengthening at left-back too given a lack of depth behind Luke Shaw, Sky Sports claim that Arsenal's Myles Lewis-Skelly is a target, alongside Lewis Hall of Newcastle United and Eintracht Frankfurt's Nathaniel Brown.

The big advantage of Lewis-Skelly is that he can play as a left-back and in central midfield.

After a spectacular 2024-25 campaign at the Emirates it seemed unlikely that a move to Old Trafford could happen for the Englishman, but his minutes have been severely limited under Mikel Arteta this term.

The 19-year-old has only made three Premier League starts this season, including in midfield in the 3-0 win against Fulham at the weekend, with Arteta labelling his display as 'incredible'.

Man United Set to Receive £200m Warchest

Sky Sports claim that United are expected to make around £200m next season, with half of that amount coming from extra revenue earned from their return to the Champions League.

The club hope to recoup the other half from player sales, with a number of players expected to go through the Old Trafford exit door during the close season.

For any United supporters getting excited, the amount will be spread in installments throughout next season, rather than coming in as one lump sum. That rules out the possibility of spending all of it in the summer transfer window.

United are expected to lose Rasmus Hojlund to Napoli in a £38m deal, with the exits of Marcus Rashford, Ugarte and Joshua Zirkzee also expected to raise significant funds.

The Red Devils will also clear Casemiro's huge wages when he leaves, with the contracts of Jadon Sacho and Tyrell Malacia also expiring.
