**Viktor Gyokeres**gave his thoughts on the opportunity of facing **Atletico Madrid**for the right to play in the final of the **Champions League**with **Arsenal**at the end of this month in his debut season.
‘We are in this position now for a reason’
Back at this stage of the competition for the second season in succession, the Gunners took a 1-1 draw from the first leg of their semi-final tie at the Riyadh Air Metropolitano. Gyokeres grabbed a penalty through a foul from **David Hancko**late in the first half, and he buried emphatically from 12 yards.
**Julian Alvarez**equalised early in a stronger second half display from the hosts, but **Arsenal**now enjoy home advantage at the **Emirates Stadium**off the back of a 3-0 win over **Fulham**last week.
Gyokeres has been in much better scoring form this year, firing **Sweden**into this summer’s World Cup, and he will embrace the chance to be a talismanic figure in a massive fixture for the club.
“We are in this position now for a reason. We've done well throughout the season, but of course now with these games that are coming, it's when comes down to and everything matters to do well in these games to get us over the line. It's been incredible so far what we've done. But we have to do it now.
“It's a great feeling if we can achieve that. But to experience the position we're in and to play these kinds of games is what we know that we're going to do right now and that is great.
*“To do that with your country and to contribute when you're playing for your country and to get to the World Cup, especially how our qualification was incredible. It was amazing to achieve that and to be part of that. It's great and I think it gives me a lot of confidence.*
“It's incredible when you see people around the stadium doing it and it is great to do it also for myself after a goal. So, it's only good vibes.
“You always want to play and especially the big games. I just don't try to think too much about it. You're ready and when you get your chance to play, you want to prove yourself and do well.
“You have to keep going to go again and again because there's so many games and there's always going to be challenges throughout the season and you have to deal with those in the best possible way and to do better the next game. So, that's a very important part.
“It's amazing to play this game at home. We know what's at stake and of course we have an amazing opportunity to have a great game and to enjoy it with the fans. But we have to do it on the pitch and of course with their amazing support, I think that it can be a great night.
“I think it's going to be a tough game like it was in Madrid. I think that Atletico Madrid has a great team. They have a lot of attacking quality and we know that they're dangerous there. So, of course, we have to do that part well and do what we are good at when we have the ball.
“I played the games before and these kind of moments. It's important to win football matches like when I was with the national team a month ago or so when we had to win the games to go through to the World Cup and I think of course tomorrow is going to be another massive game and I think it's just a great opportunity and amazing position to have this opportunity.”
