Liverpool ready to reject £8.6m bid for 'best player in the world'

Juventus are working on a deal to sign Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson this summer, GIVEMESPORT understands.

The 33-year-old has one year left on his contract at Anfield and Liverpool remain calm about the situation and are yet to receive any formal contact from the Italian club.

Sources have told GMS that earlier this year, Juventus felt a move for Alisson would be extremely difficult to get done with Liverpool and there is still no guarantee a transfer materialises.

Juventus think Alisson is open to move

However, optimism has grown as Juventus believe Alisson is open to the switch. Personal terms are unlikely to be an issue, and Juventus will be in a healthy financial position if they qualify for the Champions League.

Luciano Spalletti's side are currently fourth in Serie A, one point clear of fifth-placed Roma with three games left.

Alisson remains Liverpool's first-choice keeper and is close to returning from a hamstring injury. Giorgi Mamardashvili was signed from Valencia as his long-term replacement, but Liverpool's ideal plan is to keep Alisson until the end of his contract. As it stands, his position as Liverpool's number one is not under any imminent threat heading into next season.

Alisson is not agitating for a move away. Like Andy Robertson, he would only agree to an exit if it suited Liverpool. The Brazil international has been at Anfield since 2018 after joining from Roma. He has gone on to make 332 appearances and even scored an incredible injury-time winner at West Brom in a 2-1 victory in May 2021.

Captain Virgil van Dijk responded to rumours of a move away from the club for Alisson by saying: "For me, he's one of the team's leaders and is crucial on the pitch. In my opinion, he's the best goalkeeper in the world."

Juventus have been linked with another Premier League goalkeeper

Guglielmo Vicario in action for Tottenham

Juventus are seeking a new number one, casting doubt over the futures of Michele Di Gregorio and Mattia Peri. They have also been linked with Guglielmo Vicario, although sources downplay any approach. Inter Milan are the more likely destination if the Spurs keeper leaves North London.

Liverpool have not set a fee for Alisson since no club-to-club talks have started, yet GMS understands reported figures of a €10million price tag are wide of the mark.

Even with only a year left on his current deal, Liverpool would still command a significant fee and may chose to reinvest some of it to sign another goalkeeper this summer should Alisson depart.
