Federico Gatti
Rome, Italy 26th October 2025: Federico Gatti of Juventus FC during the Serie A 2025-26 football match between SS Lazio vs Juventus FC at the Olimpico Stadium
Everton, Crystal Palace and Aston Villa are in the hunt for Federico Gatti, who is likely to leave Juventus in the summer.
The defender has had a season of ups and downs. He was missing for weeks due an injury around the turn of the year. Luciano Spalletti took some time to use him regularly but Gatti scored a crucial goal against Roma in March.
That didn’t change his situation, as the Italian has not started any of the last six Serie A games. This has encouraged major doubts about his future, with Sport Witness covering English interest late last month.
Everton are now presented as leading the race, with Aston Villa and Crystal Palace a bit behind.
Exit appearing likely
TuttoSport report the centre-back is one of the candidates who can leave Juve in the summer. Gatti has already declined approaches from Galatasaray but he would accept a move to England.
Everton have been following him ‘for months’ and this makes them a leading candidate for his signature.
Aston Villa and Crystal Palace see the Italy international as a way to shore up their backline. Their interest appears to be more recent, with TuttoSport also claiming that Fulham have been keen.
The defender is unhappy under Spalletti and is seeking first-team football. If English clubs offer that, Gatti will accept those approaches.
A fee in the vicinity of €20m to €25m will be enough, with Juve having paid €7.5m for him in 2022.
Gatti will add value in England
The 27-year-old isn’t the most proficient on the ball and that has been one of the main criticisms around him. But off the ball, Gatti has often put in important performances and he is dominant aerially.
Despite his weaknesses, the Italian has often come across as a leader who shines through in difficult situations, scoring crucial goals.
That should appeal to Everton, Aston Villa and Crystal Palace. Gatti offers a lot for a reasonable fee and should be worth the gamble.
