Amazon Used Perfect Katie McCabe Clip To Land Arsenal Champions League Dig

Arsenal have reached their first men's UEFA Champions League final in 20 years after a 1-0 win over Atletico Madrid on Tuesday night.

It was a cagey affair, but Bukayo Saka's goal just before half-time was enough to get them over the line after the 1-1 draw in Madrid last week.

With the Premier League title now back in their hands, the dream of a historic double is tantalising for Arsenal fans. However, their previous Champions League heartbreak will be just as loud in the minds of every supporter.

The Gunners have only reached one prior men's European Cup final, with Barcelona scoring twice late on to beat a 10-man Arsenal side in Paris in 2006.

Arsenal have a chance to rectify years of underperformance in the Champions League - but one broadcaster used a perfect clip of Katie McCabe to show that it is only the men's team who have previously failed to deliver on Europe's biggest stage.

Prime's perfect Katie McCabe Arsenal clip

Amazon Prime's opening montage for Tuesday night's Champions League semi-final showcased years of Arsenal brilliance in the domestic English men's game, juxtaposed against their relative European heartbreak.

It led to a brilliant switch-up involving an Irish great.

As scenes of the 2004 Invincibles played on screen, the narrator noted, "But no man has won them this one."

Of course, McCabe and her Arsenal teammates won the club's second Women's Champions League crown with their superb victory over Barcelona in last year's final.

The Ireland captain became the fourth Irishwoman to win the European Cup, after Emma Byrne, Yvonne Tracy, and Ciara Grant's success with the same club in 2007.

McCabe was the star of Arsenal's celebrations in North London on their return from Portugal, something which the clip captured perfectly.

It was a clever choice from the Amazon Prime producers to drive home the heartbreak of the Arsenal men's team, and the clip received a brilliant reaction on social media.

Mikel Arteta's side will have the chance to join Katie McCabe and co. in the pantheon of European champions on May 30th, when they face either Bayern or PSG in the Champions League final in Budapest.

Unfortunately for Katie McCabe and the Arsenal women's team, their defence of the Champions League came to an end with their 4-3 aggregate defeat to Lyon, which was secured on Sunday afternoon.

It appears likely that McCabe has just four WSL games left in an Arsenal shirt, with the Dubliner set to depart come the end of the season after over a decade at the club.
