News that FC Porto have confirmed an agreement to sign defender Jakub Kiwior for £19 million this summer has sparked a wide range of reactions among supporters of Arsenal. After the Portuguese club announced the deal, Gunners fans flooded social media to share their thoughts—some surprised, some disappointed, others wishing the player well as he moves on.
Instagram also saw a surge of comments on ARSENAL fan pages sharing the news. One popular comment under a graphic of the confirmed transfer read: “Shame it didn’t fully click for him here. His cameos were solid. Porto are getting a tidy defender.”
Another user chimed in: “£19m is decent business but still a bit gutted. He had potential to grow with us.”
Meanwhile on Reddit’s r/Gunners, a thread titled “Kiwior to Porto CONFIRMED” quickly became the top discussion of the day. The top comment stated: “Always liked him. Never complained, filled in when we needed him. Wish him the best—just hope the club has a plan.”
A reply added: “This one hurts more than I expected. Thought he’d be part of the backline rotation next season.”
Some ARSENAL supporters focused more on the financial aspect of the deal. On Facebook, one fan commented: “£19m feels okay but not great. He’s young, left-footed, versatile… players like that usually go for more. But if it helps our summer business, fair enough.”
Others were more upbeat about the move for Kiwior’s own development: “He’ll smash it in Portugal,” one fan wrote on X. “Porto play progressive football and he’ll get regular minutes. Good move for him.”
There were also messages of gratitude directed at the player himself. A TikTok edit featuring some of Kiwior’s best defensive moments in an Arsenal shirt gained thousands of views, with comments like: “Thanks for the memories Jakub. Always gave 100%. Respect.”
Still, the departure has raised concerns among some sections of the fanbase about squad depth heading into next season: “Our left-sided defensive options are looking thin now,” wrote one user on X. “This hints at a big defensive signing incoming—or at least I hope it does.”
Despite the mixed emotions, most supporters agreed that Kiwior handled himself with professionalism during his time in North London and leaves with goodwill from the fanbase.
