**Mikel Arteta deserves a statue at [Arsenal](https://sportwitness.co.uk/arsenal/) after leading them to the Champions League final for the first time in 20 years.**
That’s according to Wesley Sneijder, who can’t speak highly enough of the Arsenal manager. [His comments are relayed by Voetbal Primeur.](https://www.voetbalprimeur.be/nieuws/2085956/wesley-sneijder-arteta-man-verdient-een-standbeeld.html)
**Champions League dream**
--------------------------
Arsenal secured their place in the Champions League final in Hungary with a 1-0 win over Atlético Madrid on Tuesday evening.
It’s set up a potential final against Paris Saint-Germain or Bayern Munich, who are set to do battle in the other semi-final on Wednesday evening.
It’s another major milestone for Arteta, who has turned Arsenal into a formidable European outfit now competing for the Champions League and top of the Premier League, with their own destiny in their hands.
Sections of the Gunners fanbase remain unconvinced, but Sneijder doesn’t share that mentality in the slightest.
_“It was simply too mediocre and too timid on Atlético’s part,”_ he said on Ziggo Sport.
_“This gentleman… I can’t say it often enough, people. But he really deserves a statue, already. With this team, it is so impressive to reach the final. Leaving all the other world-class teams behind you. I think that is very impressive.”_
**Should Arteta get a statue?**
-------------------------------
Whether Mikel Arteta does ever get a statue at Arsenal will surely be determined in the coming weeks.
With the Premier League in their grasp and the Champions League final as well, there is the chance to end this season in spectacular fashion.
But it also could be the grounding for a very bright future under Arteta’s leadership. With their first titles secured, the hunger and desire will be there for more in future.
And with clever additions to the current squad, that is more than viable. But it will also be dependent on what happens in the coming weeks first. Now is the time for the Arsenal coach to really prove his worth.
