Porto have confirmed that Poland international Jakub Kiwior has joined the club on a permanent basis from Arsenal ahead of the end of his season-long loan.
The 26-year-old moves for an initial fee of €17 million, with up to €5 million in add-ons. Arsenal will also receive €2 million from any future transfer involving the defender.
Kiwior joined the Gunners from Serie A side Spezia in January 2023 and made 68 appearances, scoring three goals. He enjoyed two notable runs in the side, first at left-back between January and March 2024 as Arsenal pushed Manchester City for the title, and later at centre-back towards the end of last season, stepping in for the injured Gabriel.
It is understood Mikel Arteta was keen to keep the Poland international, but did not stand in his way when Kiwior made clear his desire for more regular football. Andrea Berta moved quickly to bring in a replacement, securing Piero Hincapie on a loan deal that will become permanent this summer.
Kiwior, who has signed a contract until 2030 and has a €70 million release clause, has featured 38 times for Porto this season, playing a key role in their title win, which they secured with two games to spare.
As moves go, it is hard to ask for a better start. Best of luck to him.
