Arsenal will not take the title to the final day as the Gunners drew 1-1 away at Brighton. The result leaves Arsenal in third, four points behind Chelsea in second, with 2 games in hand.
Renée Slegers made five changes to the team that went out of the Champions League on Saturday. Smila Holmsberg, Laia Codina, Taylor Hinds, Victoria Pelova, and Frida Maanum came into the team while Emily Fox, Leah Williamson, Katie McCabe, Mariona, and Stina Blackstenius dropped to the bench. Beth Mead also returned to the bench.
Despite their own rotation, Brighton started strongly and could’ve taken the lead before 90 seconds. Olislagers slipped in Tvedten on the right but her shot was straight at Van Domselaar and Camacho headed the rebound over the bar.
Arsenal began to grow into the game and on 10 minutes Maanum struck a low shot from range that was straight at Nnadozie.
Foord broke away from pressure and fed her, with Maanum’s cross going behind for a corner.
From the corner, Pelova crossed to the far post but Wubben-Moy couldn’t turn the shot around the post.
Foord seized on a loose ball and broke through a tackle before shooting over the bar from outside of the box.
Wubben-Moy got onto the end of Pelova’s free kick but her header was right at Nnadozie.
A rasping shot from Russo went just over the bar on 32 minutes after Foord flicked on Hinds’ throw.
Minami was booked on 35 minutes. Russo won the ball off her on the halfway line, and knocked it down the like past her. Minami dragged her down rather than let her get away.
Brighton took the lead on 43 minutes. Tvedten’s initial free kick was cleared but the ball came to Tsundra, whose shot was deflected past Van Domselaar, who got a hand on the shot but couldn’t stop it. [1-0](https://streamin.link/v/970e3da2).
Two minutes were added on to the end of the first half.
At the other end, Hayes headed Maanum’s cross behind for a corner after Holmberg played Maanum in behind. The corner, though, came to nothing.
One change was made at the break with Mariona replacing Pelova.
Holmberg drove down the right and found Russo between two centre halves at the penalty spot but she screwed her shot wide.
On 53 minutes, Little’s diagonal found Hinds on the left. She passed inside to Foord, who drove into the box and shot, with Nnadozie punching her shot over the bar.
Mariona then hit a low shot from the edge of the penalty area but it was straight at Nnadozie
Mariona carried the ball through traffic then played an excellent through ball for Foord. Nnadozie came out but Foord, rather than taking it around her or shooting, cutback into the middle looking a teammate and Brighton cleared.
Maanum then went down in the box under pressure from Rule, but the reefree played on.
Arsenal equalised on 62 minutes. Hinds found Russo in the centre. She held the ball under pressure, turned and slipped Maanum in behind the Brighton defence. Maanum, one-on-one with Nnadzoie, took a touch and then placed her finish into the far corner. [1-1](https://streamin.link/v/c149a2b8).
Brighton nearly retook the lead. Rule got into the box, skipped past Mariona and then cutback for Rayner, who took a touch and then shot straight at Van Domselaar, who blocked the shot, and Arsenal cleared.
On 66 minutes, Slegers made a triple change. Blackstenius replaced Maanum, McCabe replaced Hinds, and Mead replaced Smith.
Seike was dragged down by Codina in the box as she looked to get onto McLauchlan’s pass, but the referee gave Codina a repreieve as Seike was flagged offside.
On 80 minutes Wubben-Moy got into trouble at the back. Codina looked to clean up the mess but the rebound sent Haley through on goal, but Little got back to block the shot.
On 83 minutes Chloe Kelly replaced Caitlin Foord.
On 85 minutes Arsenal took a quick throw, and Mead’s cross into the middle was good but Russo’s header, from the penalty spot, was straight at Nndaozie.
Kelly was booked for fouling Nnadozie as she cleared a ball under pressure.
Six minutes were added onto the end of the second half.
On 93 minutes, as Arsenal looked for a winner, Holmberg looped the ball into the box and Russo went down under the challenge of two Brighton players, who won the ball but clattered into Russo.
In the 96th minute, McCabe’s superb diagonal from the back put Holmberg in a good position. She exchanged passes with Mead, and then her cross was poor and floated out of play.
In the final minute of the match, Arsenal won a corner, but Blackstenius headed over from the delivery.
