Encouragement for Arsenal and PSG in tussle for same signing– Player seeks clarity

Arsenal face Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League final in Budapest on May 30th.

PSG overcame Bayern Munich in the semifinal on Wednesday, a day after Arsenal beat Atlético Madrid 1-0 at the Emirates.

These two clubs won’t just be fighting for the Europe’s prestigious club competition but also for Julián Alvarez in the summer.

On April 13th, Sport Witness covered claims from France of the Gunners making concrete offer to the striker. A week later, we relayed news of both the north London club and PSG tempting him to snub Barcelona.

Last week, Diego Simeone said it’s normal that Arsenal, PSG an Barca want the Argentina international.

Aware of Arsenal and PSG interest

The World Cup winner joined Los Rojiblancos from Manchester City in August 2024 and is yet to win silverware.

Atlético Madrid will finish another season trophy-less, with nothing left to fight for this season.

Thursday’s edition of Mundo Deportivo states it’s unclear whether he will play for the Madrid club next season. Julián Alvarez aims to reflect on his next step before going to the World Cup.

He is ‘fully aware’ of Arsenal, PSG and Barcelona interest and seems to prioritise a move to the Camp Nou over Paris or London.

Hansi Flick’s side are looking to reinforce their attack and the South American is their main target.

However, the Blaugrana are clear they won’t pay an exorbitant amount and have set a €100m limit.

There’s no indication or suggestion of any limit for the Gunners and Luis Enrique’s side.

On Wednesday, Sport Witness relayed news Alvarez’s price is €150m while Chelsea’s João Pedro, another Barca target, would cost around €80-100m.

If that’s the Argentine’s price, the La Liga winners will come short, and this in return will be encouragement for both Arsenal and PSG.

Barcelona are also hearing Atlético have no intention of selling. With the Madrid club standing firm, Alvarez has to push for a move if he wants to change clubs.

Contract, value and agent info

Transfermarkt value Julián Alvarez, who has a contract until 2030, at €90m and Fernando Hidalgo represents the South American.

The Atlético Madrid star has managed 20 goals and nine assists from 49 matches this season.
