Naomi Williams to leave Arsenal at the end of the season

Arsenal goalkeeper Naomi Williams will leave the club at the end of this season when her contract expires. The 21-year-old has been with the club since the age of 13, though she never appeared in a competitive game for the Gunners she was a regular in matchday squads over the last three seasons.

Naomi went on loan to Bristol City at the beginning of this season but was recalled in January following an ACL injury to Manu Zinsberger, who will also leave the club this summer and because Williams struggled to unseat Fran Bentley from the number 1 shirt at Bristol City.

Williams announced her departure on her Instagram account on Monday, ‘Words cannot express my pride and honour of being, having spent eight years at the club. This was the hardest decision I have made in my life so far, Arsenal forming my identity, habits and actions on a daily basis…Arsenal will forever remain in my heart and I will forever remain a Gooner.’

Arsenal said, ‘Everyone at Arsenal Football Club thanks Naomi for her efforts during her time with us and we wish her well for her next chapter.’
